Navigation U.A Development
Navigation Unknown Anomaly Development
It’s been a while since I’ve posted one of these, but I decided you might like to know what I’m up to atm. Whilst I have several lines of code projects going atm, one of my main thrusts to get us back to the ‘Core’ and open up a new Galaxy (Or old one depending on how you look at it) has been a change to how we interact with things on the Navigation screen.
As this will be used in the New Galaxy, it struck me that we could use this in the Current Universe. So I’m posting a few images and giving you a few hints at what’s to come, first to a Galaxy near you and then for you to continue to use this method in the Core.
Systems in the current Galaxy will begin to display a question mark on the NAV screen.
Should you choose to enter, your ship will be transported to an unknown area of space. As this is a wormhole, it could be five minutes away or into another Galaxy! Once there, you will find a new NAV style screen. This will be populated with things like unknown pirates, unknown wrecks, Asteriods, and unknown asteroids. Plus plethora of one off ‘missions’.
Your own ship is displayed as an icon on the Nav screen, as will be any other Captains in the field of space. So you will for the first time be able to see other captains in CE. I’m working on some interactions but for now it’s just a visual icon and hover data.
Each item in the field can be hovered over or clicked on to move to and investigate the target. Some of these will be random asteroids full of rich ores, or new asteroids filled with new elements only obtainable in this fashion.
There will be unknown Pirates, wrecks and derelicts to engage with also offering both old and new items (Based on the location the worm hold connected with. One thing to bear in mind is that the fields are Server Wide at this time, so if you can see an Asteroid full of rare elements, so can anyone else in that field.
Fields will be replenished over time as and when items are depleted, or simply over time as they degrade and disappear. Mechanics of this are still to be decided.
There are no comments, yet.
Why don’t you be the first? Come on, you know you want to!
